Flood Relief

Rapid Response for Flood-Affected Families

The year 2020 has been a cascading tragedy for Assam and Bihar with the pandemic hitting the globe, creating mass tragedy in its wake, Assam and Bihar have to face double the challenge with a massive flood causing havoc in its midst.

Assam is among India’s most disaster-vulnerable states. With neck-deep water streaming from the mighty Brahmaputra and its tributaries, every monsoon, over 80 percent of the state is submerged. The same water flows down below and then affects Bihar adversely as well. Initial flooding occurred in May 2020 due to heavy rains affecting 30,000 residents and killing crops in 5 districts. By July, floods in 27 districts impacted between 2 to 3 million residents and claimed the lives of over 90 people. Our team provided food, medicines, sanitary napkins and other necessary essentials to the affected people.
